The Chronicle-Tribune readers voted Via Credit Union the GREATEST CREDIT UNION in Grant County for the EIGHTEENTH year in a row!

ViaCU was awarded six Greatest Awards:

For the fourth consecutive year, ViaCU has been named a Top Workplaces by IndyStar for a culture that values people and amplifies talents!

Cornerstone Company of the Year 2024

United Way of Grant County recently recognized Via Credit Union as the Cornerstone Company of the Year! 

United Way posted:  "It has been a privilege to work alongside valuable business partners in our community such as Via Credit Union, in our mission to LIVE UNITED. Because of their team's support and generosity, they are making an impact in the areas of health, education, and financial stability for countless individuals and families in Grant County. Because of their increased impact this past year, we were so happy to name them the United Way Cornerstone Company of the Year at our recent impact Awards. Thank you, ViaCU team, for all you do!"

 

Indiana Credit Union League Awards 2025

Via Credit Union was recently recognized by the Indiana Credit Union League (ICUL) with Honorable Mention for both the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award and the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award in the asset category of $250 million to $1 billion.

ViaCU earned the Dora Maxwell Award for creating a fun and interactive experience at a local Chamber event that helped attendees learn about personal finance. Participants received a treasure map and were encouraged to explore each “island,” uncovering hidden treasures of financial wisdom along the way.

The Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award recognized ViaCU’s efforts to support financial education among youth through service projects and financial literacy resources offered in partnership with local non-profits.

“Via Credit Union is committed to our mission of People Helping People Achieve Financial Success,” said Cindy Kohlmorgen, ViaCU President/CEO. “These honors reflect not only our initiatives, but the passion and dedication of our entire team to create positive change for our members and the communities we serve. We are truly honored to be recognized by the Indiana Credit Union League.”

Award nominations were evaluated at the state level, and honorees were announced during ICUL’s 2025 Annual Meeting and Convention in Indianapolis.

America's Credit Unions Diamond Awards 2025

Via Credit Union was among 180 credit unions nationwide named as winner of the prestigious Diamond Award-the Marketing, PR & Development Council’s annual competition for marketing excellence.  

ViaCU received the following recognition:
•    Financial Education Category for the Islands of Financial Fortune project
•    Audience Specific Marketing Category for the introduction of the Teen Debit Card

The Marketing, PR & Development Council of America’s Credit Unions announced the winners at the annual conference in March, recognizing the best marketing campaigns in the credit union industry from the past year.  Credit unions, advertising agencies, and associations submitted 1,400 submissions for the prestigious awards. In all, 180 organizations from 42 states were selected as winners.  Chief Marketing Officer, Michelle Peterson, attended and accepted the awards on behalf of ViaCU.

"We are truly thrilled to celebrate Via Credit Union and the other Diamond Award winners with such a prestigious recognition," said Lesli Bishop, Co-Chair of the Diamond Awards and Chief Marketing Officer at Family Savings Credit Union in Gadsden, Ala. "These credit unions not only reflect the core values of the credit union movement, but they exemplify the forward-thinking and innovative strategies within our industry."

For more than 30 years, the Diamond Awards have celebrated the excellence in credit union marketing.

CASA Sand Sculpture Artfest

Staff shares financial literacy to both students and adults by visiting classrooms and employee health fairs.

Gift of Warmth

In 2025, ViaCU’s Mortgage Team raised $800 and donated 3 totes of winter gear to the Dodson Legacy, Inc., helping provide 672 coats to local kids in need.

Nurse's Aid

Staff and members make donations to the Nurse's Aid program through Jean Days and by purchasing fundraiser items. Each year, ViaCU is able to provide area school nurses with items such as lice shampoo, clothing and personal hygiene items! 

Over $8,000 worth of supplies were donated to 38 local schools during the 2024-2025 school year, thanks to the ViaCU staff, several vendors and Dollar General Distribution Center.

Cancer Services Walk of Hope

ViaCU staff raised $1,750 in donations through Jeans Days in early spring and/or walked the mile Walk of Hope for Cancer Services of Grant County!

Angel Tree Programs

Each Christmas season the staff of ViaCU generously contributes to the Angel Tree Program that provides gifts to children in need in our community.

Scholarships

ViaCU recognizes the importance of education, which is why we offer $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are a member of ViaCU, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  ViaCU is proud to announce the 2025 winners:

Friends of Dave Huffman Memorial Scholarship

ViaCU staff committed to annually fund a $1,000 Scholarship for a Mississinewa High School Senior to honor former Gas City Branch Manager, Dave Huffman who will be remembered for his contributions to Gas City, which he referred to as "Paradise on Earth".

ViaCU provides local teachers with a small gift to thank them for all of their hard work during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Teacher Grants

Via Credit Union awarded 17 Teacher Grants, totaling $7,020.51, to support innovative classroom projects during the 2024-2025 school year. Over the years, ViaCU has funded a total of 181 projects, contributing over $74,500 to local teachers.

Warsaw Parks Dept Events

Warsaw staff and Coindexter Kid’s Club mascot, Piggy Banks, attend multiple events throughout the year. Some of the fun includes roasting s’mores by the campfire at the Fall Fest and handing out candy at the Trunk or Treat.
